But Mihailov offers a very different interpretation. According to him, Bulgaria’s real problem is not simply left vs. right, Russia vs. Europe, or liberal vs. conservative. He argues that the country is trapped in a deep system of oligarchic control, media manipulation, political dependency, corruption, war profiteering, and economic monopolies.
