In this final highlight, Ivelin Mihailov turns to energy, food, water, and the cost of living in Bulgaria.
He argues that Bulgaria should not shut down nuclear power, claiming oligarchic interests prefer wind and solar because they are easier to control politically and commercially. He says Bulgaria still has energy capacity — including the Kozloduy nuclear plant and coal power — but ordinary people face brutal prices: electricity, fuel, water, and basic living costs are all rising.
Mihailov also claims Bulgaria’s agricultural sector has been deliberately weakened through laws and political deals that restrict irrigation and push the country toward importing food instead of producing it. His conclusion is bleak: Bulgaria may survive an energy crisis because it consumes relatively little, but socially and economically, he says the country is still collapsing.
And when asked whether there is any good news from Bulgaria, his answer is stark: not yet — the fight continues.
